Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn (1918-2008) teaches all of us how to live under tyranny and to triumph over it - whether Communist state-sponsored authoritarianism, or the kind of oppression that manifests itself in public/private woke social pressure. The West today is an amalgamation of both of these. This short essay, Live Not By Lies, is one of the greatest works of human thought, and is the very thing tyrants of every persuasion fear the most. It is the pathway to resistance and human dignity, even from within the maw of monsters who claim the right to tell us how to think, to police our words, and to rob us of our God-given liberties. Lurking and hiding behind smiles and rainbows and talk of love are the concentration camp and the shallow grave.
We do not have to live like this.
If you have not read or listened to Live Not By Lies, I recommend that you stop what you are doing - and read or listen to this. Ponder these words. Re-read them or re-listen to them. Take them to heart. For Satan is the father of lies. Tyranny is built on lies, and it plays out in human suffering, fear, and death. Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. We are called to Live Not By Lies!
Excellent essay and extremely timely. Thank you.
Superb vital essay that even has practical suggestions for how to resist. Is in a class with Étienne de la Boétie’s Discourse on Voluntary Servitude.
